Did The New York Knicks Delay News On Lin’s Injury?
Just as when the New York Knicks seemed to have made the right choices in picking up second-year guard Jeremy Lin into their roster, the polarizing NBA team looks headed into another downslide towards the end o the regular season. What appeared to be another sorry year looked more exciting for the Knicks since Lin’s entry, former coach Mike D’Antoni’s departure and Mike Woodson taking over the coaching chores.
As luck would have it, Lin suffered a knee injury that required surgery on Monday. The Harvard grad who made waves in the NBA and in the sporting world for his Asian roots has helped the Knicks turn around what looked like another losing season even at a time when stars Carmelo Anthony and Amare Stoudemire were on the injured list. Lin has also become a selling attraction not only at the Madison Square Garden but on road games as well.
Now that Lin is out for the season, the Knicks organization still seems to be cashing in on his popularity. Delaying news on his injury may have resulted to more playoffs ticket sales with the hopes of seeing Lin return to action. Whether this is true or not is no longer the question. The fact remains that the Knicks have already made more money on tickets and merchandise this season with Lin around.
