Virgin Mary Apparition in Malaysia Draws Crowd (Photo)
Is it an authentic image or just a coincidence? This is probably the question of most skeptics in the recently reported Virgin Mary apparition which occurred in the window pane of a hospital in Malaysia.
An image of Virgin Mary appeared at the Sime Darby Medical Center located in Subang Jaya, Selangor, just outside of Kuala Lumpur. The news was first reported by MalaysianDigest.com last November 11, 2012. Since then, the Virgin Mary sighting has become viral in Facebook and Twitter attracting attention from various people in the world, including the Catholic Church.
Bishop Emeritus Anthony Selvanayagam of the Diocese of Penang Malaysia earlier commented not to believe first as they wait for the official statement from the Caholic Church.
“Let us be peaceful and not get carried away by such incidents. The church does not blindly accept such claims without first conducting an investigation on what was sighted. The church will not jump onto the bandwagon and endorse such cases without first verifying its authenticity. The Catholic Church is not so naive to just follow what is claimed”, he said.
Currently, Catholics in Malaysia are waiting for the panel to be removed from the hospital. The plan is to carefully transfer the glass panel to the Marian Church of Our Lady of Lourdes in Klang where it can accommodate more devotees. The management of the hospital and the hospital, the contractor, and the representatives from a local Catholic parish met last Wednesday to discuss on how to best remove the window panel.
“We discussed the best method to remove it safely as the window pane is aging and is delicate. The access to the site is not easy, so we are talking about the possibility of using a sky lift as the process has to be done from the outside,” said by one of the local Church representatives.
“I am here to see for myself the miracle of the Mother showing herself here in Malaysia,” one of the Catholic worshipers said. “It is a miracle and I cannot believe my eyes,” another worshiper said.
Meanwhile, Catholic devotees also claimed that they can now also see an image of an adult Jesus Christ just two windows away from his mother, Virgin Mary.
“We believe Mary, mother of God, has a message for us, as she is looking down on us and then at a Malaysian flag. We can also see Jesus and he is also moving, they are not static,” Eunice Fernandez, who lives nearby, told AFP.
While many in Malaysia, especially the conservative Islamic elements have denounced the authenticity of the “miracle” saying it might just have been painted, Catholic worshipers are flocking to the hospital for a glimpse of the Virgin Mary, lighting candles, singing hymns, and offering prayers.
Spectators said that the image could not be seen inside the hospital facility. It could only be viewed from outside the hospital.
